ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoyed reading your Book „My Life with Ndoto“ especially since I own a Land Rover Series III 109 too.
Your Book encourages me to plan adventurous Safaris with my Landy too, called Kobe Mzee.
In one of your YouTube Videos I saw a High Lift Jack mounted on the right rear of Ndoto. I too have a High Lift Jack and my plan was to mount it in a similar way, just like you have done.
My question is, were you satisfied with mounting the Jack in the rear ? Did the mount hold up to the rough off beaten corrugated tracks ? Do you by any chance have pictures, the way you fixed the High Lift Jack to the back of your Land Rover ?

ReplyDeleteThe location of our hi lift jack depended on how we located our rooftop tent. When we set the tent so that it flipped out to the front, we moved the jack to the rear. When the tent flipped out to the back, we had it secured in the front parallel and on top of the front bumper. It was all about weight distribution, which I'm sure you get. In either location, the jack withstood the worst of the African roads, and that is saying a lot. We only had to use it once, when we had a puncture in Chobe National Park. Enjoy your travels!
